PESHAWAR, Aug 30: The City Development and Municipal Department (CD&MD) Employees Union, in a meeting, have asked the concerned authorities to take notice of the misuse of power by the CDMD’s director-general, otherwise they would hold a protest demonstration on Sept 4.

According to a CDMD union press release issued on Friday, the director-general was allegedly involved in harassing and victimising the union’s workers, the members of the Union said.

The members also protested against violation of the Industrial Regulation Ordinance and suspension of the Union’s president, Waheed Ahmad Rao, by the CDMD director-general. They claimed that the defunct Peshawar Development Authority was earning profit to the tune of millions of rupees, but now after its merger with the CD&MD it had been running into loss of Rs140 million a year, which might result in rendering the employees jobless.
