KARACHI, Aug 30: Unknown persons shot dead a young man in Orangi Extension on Friday.

Police said three persons barged into a house in Sector 11, Iqbal Baloch Colony and held the inmates hostage at gun-point.

The armed men shot at Asif Usman, 30, when he offered resistance. Police said the three suspects escaped from the house without taking any valuables along with them.

The injured was rushed to the Abbasi, but he died before reaching the hospital. Police suspected personal enmity behind the killing.

ACCIDENT: One person died and two others were injured when a speeding minibus over-turned in Shireen Jinnah Colony on Friday.

A minibus of route R-1 (PE-1539) was negotiating a turn at Kharkar Chowrangi, Shireen Jinnah Colony when it over-turned.

As a result, minibus conductor Sikandar lost his life and two women passengers Qamar Bibi and Shaheena suffered injuries. They were shifted to the JPMC for treatment.

DIES OF BURNS: A young girl died of burns during treatment at Abbasi Hospital on Friday.

Police said Beenish, 19, had suffered burns in her home in Surjani a week back when a gas-stove burst into flames in her kitchen. Her father was also injured while trying to put out the fire, police said.

The victim was admitted to the Abbasi Hospital where she expired on early Friday morning.

CRUSHED: An unidentified man in his 40s was crushed to death by a locomotive in Landhi on Friday.

DIES: An unidentified body of a young man was found in Malir River-bed on Friday.

Police said the body of a man in his mid-20s was found it the river-bed. It was shifted to the Jinnah Hospital for postmortem examination.

Doctors have reserved autopsy report till the receipt of the histopathological report.

Later, it was shifted to the Edhi morgue for identification, police added.

ELECTROCUTED: A young boy, Ahmed Ali, died of electrocution in his home in F.B. Area on Friday when he was trying to repair a suction pump. He was shifted to Abbasi Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

In another incident, Mohammad Siraj, 30, also died of electrocution in Sharafi goth on Friday.

INJURED: A teenager suffered injuries when he resisted the bandits in Saeedabad on Friday.

Mohammad Faizan, 16, riding his motorcycle was intercepted by two armed men. When he resisted them, they opened fire and escaped after snatching his bike.

The injured was shifted to the Civil Hospital, where he was admitted for treatment, police said.

CARJACKING: At least 17 vehicles — six cars and 11 motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in different parts of the city on Friday, police said.

Three cars were hijacked and three were stolen in different parts of the city. Six motorcycles were hijacked and five were stolen from various parts of the city.

Police claimed recovery of one car and one motorcycle on Friday.

ROBBERIES: At least four robberies were committed in the city on Friday, the police said.

Four bandits broke into the houses of Babar Kamran, Shaukat Ali and Zakir Qureshi in Zaman Town, Rizvia and Mehmoodabad, respectively. They held the families as hostage at gunpoint, collected cash, jewelry and valuables and fled with the loot.

In another robbery, two bandits entered the shop of Sajjad Nadeem in the Airport police limits, and deprived him of his mobile phone set and cash at gunpoint.
