LANDI KOTAL, Jan 17: Khyber Agency political agent Tariq Hayat has said suspects arrested during the ongoing military operation will be tried for their involvement in unlawful activities.

Talking to journalists here on Saturday, he dispelled the impression that innocent people had been targeted during the operation. He claimed that all the arrested men were involved in criminal activities, adding that during the three weeks of operation, crime rate had considerably declined due to the arrest of these men.

The local administration has so far arrested 48 tribesmen, including some alleged hard-core criminals. Out of the arrested men, 20 have been shifted to Peshawar for further investigations. —Correspondent
