LARKANA, May 12: The growers of Larkana division, depending on Warrah Barrage and some of its 15 other tributaries, have warned of a catastrophic situation and mass exodus in view of the prevailing water shortage in the area.

They also alleged that in connivance with the Irrigation department, influential landlords are indulging in water theft.

Addressing a news conference here, a large number of growers from different villages and small towns in western Warrah Taluka accused the landlords of tampering with their share of water.

Those present on the occasion included Warrah Nazim Manzoor Ahmad Chandio, Khawar, Nazim Anwar Choliani, Naib Nazim Mirpur Ali Nawaz Chandio, Nazir Hussain Chandio and others.

They criticized the indifferent attitude of the Irrigation officials towards their plight, and blamed them of corruption.
