Published November 21, 2008

KARACHI, Nov 20: The Sindh government has proposed an amendment to the West Pakistan Motor Vehicles Rules, 1969.

The proposed amendment reads as under:

“In Rule 155, after sub-rule (2), the following shall be added: “(30), “The Auto Rickshaw owners shall use the prescribed silencers having embossed registration number of the rickshaws thereon to avoid re-use of one silencer in different or other rickshaws for the purpose of getting fitness certificate.”

The provincial transport authority secretary said on Thursday that objection and suggestions in this regard could be sent to the transport department secretary for consideration within seven days of its publication in the official gazette.

The amendment has been published as required by section 119 of the said ordinance for information of all persons likely to be affected thereby, according to a handout.—APP
