KARACHI, Nov 12: Shipping activity remained brisk at the port where four ships scheduled to load, offload containers, palm oil and diesel were berthed at Qasim International Container Terminal (QICT), Multipurpose Terminal (MPT) and Fotco oil terminal, respectively, on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, another container ship arrived at the outer anchorage during the same period.
Berth occupancy was recorded at 80 per cent at the port, where a total of eight ships occupied berths to load, offload containers, cement, wheat, palm oil, furnace oil and Iron ore, respectively, during the report period.
A record cargo handling was achieved at the port where cargo volume of 0.131 million tons, comprising 0.0116 million tons of imports and 0.014 million tons exports, inclusive of containerised cargo carried in 2,688 (Teus) was handled during the last 24 hours.
Container ship MSC Alpana and edible oil vessel M.T Chem Route Sun sailed out to the sea on Wednesday, while two more ships M.T Al-Salam-II and C.V Maersk Deav were expected to sail on the same day. Container ship ACX Tsubaki and edible oil ship M.T Sulawesi Palm were expected to take berths at QICT and MPT, respectively on Wednesday. —APP
