KARACHI, May 10: Injured striker, Atif Bashir, and two other hockey camp trainees have been ruled out for July’s tour to Spain and Commonwealth Games in Manchester.
Right-in Atif, nursing a fractured collar bone, has been recommended one month rest by the doctor. The forward broke his collar bone during the Rotterdam Champions Trophy last November.
He had played practice matches against Singapore and Japan in Singapore before appearing at the World Cup in Kuala Lumpur in February-March where the injury aggravated.
“I have been advised by my doctor to rest for at least a month. I have submitted a certificate with the Pakistan Hockey Federation and had intimated that I will be available after a month,” Atif said from Bahawalpur.
Meanwhile, midfielder Imran Yousuf and defender Asim Chohan have also left the camp and will not be considered for selection. Imran has a knee problem, while Asim has ankle ligament damage.
Pakistan are scheduled to play four Tests in Spain from July 16 to 20 before travelling to the English city of Manchester for the Games which start July 25.
The PHF has planned to hold trials on May 17 and 18 in Lahore.
