KARACHI, May 10: The Sindh Cabinet which met here on Friday with Governor Mohammedmian Soomro in the chair, vehemently condemned the bomb blast in front of Sheraton Hotel at Club Road here on Wednesday in which 15 persons, including 11 Frenchmen, were killed and 22 injured.
The meeting, held at New Sindh Secretariat, offered its heartfelt condolences over the death of innocent people, both French and Pakistanis.
On the occasion, one-minute silence was observed in respect of departed souls of French personnel while fateha was offered for the souls of Pakistanis.
The Cabinet members also prayed for an early recovery of the injured victims of the blast. Sympathies were also expressed for the bereaved and shocked families of those dead and injured.
The cabinet welcomed the statement of French defence minister on Thursday that France would continue to honour its agreement with Pakistan in various fields and that its personnel would continue to work on the ongoing naval projects.
The cabinet resolved that government’s efforts against terrorism as partner of international coalition would continue till terrorism is eliminated.
The cabinet okayed the project for rehabilitation and revamping of irrigation and drainage systems in Sindh which has grown old and deficient.
The president, while taking cognizance of the complaints by farmers of Sindh, had announced a grant of Rs 10 billion and plus to revamp and rehabilitate the irrigation and drainage system in Sindh.
The Sindh Irrigation and Power Department constituted a technical and advisory committee to ensure a meaningful utilisation of the federal government’s grant.—PPI
