Published October 21, 2008

KARACHI, Oct. 20: The Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) is sponsoring a trade delegation to Russia in the near future, the chief executive of TDAP Syed Mohibullah Shah informed a meeting of ten major buying houses.

A press release quoted the chief executive as saying that recession has hit the US, which absorbed almost 25 per cent of Pakistan exports and, therefore, textiles, the mainstay of Pakistan’s exports, is under stress.

He pointed out that the fast changing conditions warrant exploration of new export markets and Russia is one such promising place along with many Asian countries. He urged the buying houses to visit Expo-2008 where TDAP has invited foreign buyers in big number.

Mr Shah was confident that the number of international buyers as well as participation of exhibitors from all over Pakistan will be larger this year.
