SIALKOT, May 9: Maulana Ehsanul Haq Farooqi, a banned Sipah-i-Sahaba leader and the Jamia Masjid Farooqi prayer leader, was arrested for delivering a speech against Gen Pervez Musharraf in Wadala Sindhian village, Daska.

Satrah police have sent him to the Sialkot district jail after registering a case against him under section 16 MPO.

THWARTED: Chenab Rangers on Thursday thwarted another major Indian attempt to fence near the Sialkot working boundary’s Shakargarh-Narowal sector, destroying three big defensive pillars and causing heavy losses to the enemy.

Sources told Dawn that sowing and harvesting of the seasonal crops remained suspended for the 26th consecutive day due to Indian shelling.

Meanwhile, the Indian security forces continued shelling on villages in the working boundary’s Chhumb Joriyaan (Gujrat), Bajwat, Charwa, Sucheetgarh, Harpal, Jammu, Akhnoor, Saamba, Zafarwal and Shakargarh-Narowal sectors.

No casualty has yet been reported.

SUSPENDED: The supply of electricity on Thursday remained suspended for several hours to various city localities, making the lives of the people difficult in the scorching heat.
