KARACHI, Sept 26: Teaching and non-teaching activities remained suspended at Rana Liaquat Ali Khan College of Home Economics and Khatoon-i-Pakistan College on Friday in protest against the Sindh government’s decision of handing over the management of these colleges to a non-governmental organisation.

The ongoing process of admission to first year classes in these colleges has also been badly affected due to non-availability of staff concerned at their offices.

Both the teachers and students of the colleges said that it was beyond their comprehension why such a decision had been taken by the government when both the colleges were being run smoothly and peacefully. They vowed to resist the government’s move of handing over the management of their colleges to an NGO.

Meanwhile, leaders of the Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association, Prof Ather Hussain Mirza and Prof Iftikhar Mohammad Azmi, have once again demanded of the government to revoke the recent notification whereby the management of both the colleges was given under the control of the Zindagi Trust. They said the entire teaching community of the province would be forced to launch a protest movement if the decision was not revoked.
