FAISALABAD, May 8: Technical courses of 40 week duration for the wives and daughters of ex-servicemen of the Faisalabad district will start in the local Fauji Foundation Vocational Training Centre from Aug 12.
The last date for submitting applications for these courses is May 27.
District Armed Services Board secretary Maj Khalid Iftikhar Asghar (retired) said that courses being offered included drafting, cuttings and tailoring, embroidery, zari/tilla work and first aid courses.
Wives of ex-servicemen under 45 years of age and their unmarried daughters were eligible for admission with no academic qualification restrictions, he said.
Few seats, he said, were reserved for civilians also but they would be charged Rs350 per month as tuition fee.
He said application forms could be obtained from his office or the Fauji Foundation Vocational Training Centre at 818-P, Haseeb Shaheed Road, Muhammadabad.
100 PC ENROLMENT: A function will be held in the Government Primary School No 2, Chak 7/JB, on Thursday (today) to celebrate 100 per cent enrolment of all school-going children of the village in the primary level.
The function being held under the arrangement of the Faisalabad Area Upgradation Project will be presided over by district Nazim Chaudhry Zahid Nazeer. Students, parents, social workers and educationists will grace the occasion.
UPLIFT SCHEMES: To look up facilities in educational institutions of the Faisalabad district, a sum of Rs11.8 million will be spent on the completion of 28 uplift schemes under the ongoing development programme.
This was stated by Buildings district officer Yaqoob here on Wednesday.
He said Rs1.77 million would be spent on the upgradation of seven primary schools at Chaks 141/RB, 239/GB, 649/GB, Gilani Mohallah, Jaranwala and Darul Salam.
At least Rs1.26 million would be incurred on the construction of five classrooms in the Government Boys Middle School, Chak 199/RB and Gatwala. While Rs1.1 million would be spent on the construction of three classrooms and a toilet block in the Government Girls Elementary School, Chak 254/RB, Faisalabad tehsil, he said.
An amount of Rs0.429 million would be incurred for the provision of different facilities in the Government Girls High School No 2, Peoples Colony, while Rs0.789 million would be spent on the upgradation of the Government MC High School, Samanabad.
Similarly, he said Rs0.7 million had been allocated for the construction of handicraft school building for girls in Mohallah Farooqabad, Chak Jhumra.
The remaining funds would be utilized for the construction of boundary walls, classrooms and toilet blocks in high schools at Chak 630/GB, middle school at Chak 433/GB, boys primary schools at Chak 559/GB, Chak 220/RB (Pathanwala), Chak 42/GB, Chak 29/JB and Mauza Sial Shamali, girls primary schools at Chak 417/GB, Chak 193/GB (Janoobi), and Chak 650/GB, girls middle school at Chak 442/GB and girls high school at Chak 463/GB.
Tight security: Security has been beefed up for foreigners to avoid any untoward incident in the city following the terrorism incidents in different parts of the country.
Police commandos have been deputed outside almost all private banks, leasing companies, hotels, Churches and offices of various foreign missionaries.
All SHOs of the district have been asked by the district police officer to send lists of foreigners residing in their respective areas.
Secret agencies have also been asked to keep a vigil on the activities of students of deeni madaris.
SHOT DEAD: One Ilyas was shot dead allegedly by his uncle, Aslam, over a property dispute in Islamnagar here on Wednesday.
Police are investigating.
POISONED: A woman was poisoned allegedly by her husband in Rabbani Colony here on Wednesday.
Amir Shahzad forced his wife, Fauzia Bibi, to take some tablets. She became unconscious after taking the same and died while being taken to hospital.
