Not a single candidate having PhD or Master’s degree from any foreign university showed up for interviews, advertized by the university for three posts of associate professors, an official of the university said.
He said the university had advertized for the recruitment of several IT personnel, including associate professors, assistant professors, computer programmers, system administrators and lecturers for its recently-established IT centre in the city.
The IT centre offers Bachelor’s in Computer Science and Information Technology and some diploma and certificate courses, having 50 seats.
“The Federal Ministry of Science and Technology has offered subsidy for hiring IT professionals at the public sector universities and we had announced a package of Rs350,000 per month for an associate professor having a PhD, M.Phil or Master’s degree in IT from any foreign institution,” he said, regretting that nobody with the required qualifications showed up for interviews.
He was of the view that private sector universities and institutions were offering more attractive packages, ranging from Rs0.15 to 0.25 million.
