RAWALPINDI, Sept 12: District and Sessions Judge (DSJ) on Friday directed the Chontra Police SHO to recover a minor from the custody of his father and produce him in the court on September 15 after a bailiff was not allowed to take the child.

DSJ Attaullah Kosar issued the directive on an application filed by Shabana Hussain through Almas Kazmi advocate. Ms Shabana, in her application said she was living happily with her husband Saqlain Mehmood.

But some days back they had a quarrel over a domestic issue and Saqlain kicked her out of the house and did not allow her to take her one-and-a-half-year-old baby.

She said she was worried about the life of her child as Saqlain might have been giving him sleeping pills to keep him asleep.

The bailiff appointed for the recovery of the child in his report to the court said that the grandfather of the child along with Moammad Rafique and Zafar Mehmood declined to hand over Umer and asked him to return.

The court ordered registration of criminal case against the three men for hindering a public servant from discharging his duties and directed the SHO to produce the child before the court on September 15.

In another case the judge directed the city police officer (CPO) to appoint an officer of SP level to investigate a matter pending with Taxila police.

The judge issued directive after Zulfiqar Ahmed moved the court for the recovery of his brother and his cousin from the alleged illegal police confinement but police stated that the men were involved in a case registered with them.

The lawyer of the petitioner Ajmal Raza Bhatti told Dawn that the court directed the head of the city police to submit detailed report in 15 days after a court bailiff failed to recover Sarfaraz and his cousin Mudassir from the police custody, and quoting the police said the two men were allegedly involved in a criminal case.

The bailiff found the two men in the custody of Taxila police but could not recover them as police was of the view they were wanted in a criminal case.
