SANGHAR, May 7: A large number of women protested against the non-availability of drinking water in Sanghar town for the last one month.
This was for the first time in Sanghar’ history that women had staged a protest. They were carrying sticks and after marching on various roads, came at the Bachoo Badshah chowk.
They said that in block No 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, and other parts of the town, there was no drinking water.
The protesting women said that when they sent their men to the municipality or to meet the Nazim, they were promised to provide water but so far no water was provided to the town except some selected sectors.
They alleged that the water shortage had started after Gen Musharraf came into power.
The women said that due to the non-availability of water, they could not clean even the bathrooms and their children were suffering from skin diseases due to the sanitation problem.
Later, Taluka Nazim Abdul Waheed Nizamani, Naib Nazim Tasadduq Basheer Bajwa, and Union Council Nazim Murad Ali Nizamani assured them that water would be supplied to them within 12 hours.
