MIANWALI, May 7: The district council has condemned killing of 20 cattle who consumed contaminated water released from Pak-American Fertilizer Factory, Iskandarabad, a couple of days back.

Area Nazim Sayyid Iqrar Husain Shah tabled the motion at a meeting here on Tuesday.

The members demanded a compensation for the owners of the cattle and recommended the formulation of an inquiry committee to ascertain the real cause.

The house urged the authorities concerned to get a treatment plant installed in the factory to avoid such incident in future.

Meanwhile, the factory administration expressed oblivion of the incident.

When asked about the compensatory payment to the owners of cattle who died last year in the similar incident, the officials remained tight-lipped.

An official claimed the poisonous water might have been released from any other factory.
