KARACHI, May 7: The Pakistan Peoples Party has condemned the unannounced loadshedding in all cities, towns and villages of the country.
A PPP spokesman, in a statement, said that the “good governance” of the Pervez Musharraf government had been exposed in supply of water and power to the people, like in other national issues.
“ Billions of rupees are being taken in the name of additional bills, and in case of non-payment people are being tortured”, the spokesman said.
He said that on the one hand power bills were being increased every month and, on the other, in the name of economic reforms thousands of people had been retrenched from Wapda, KESC and other institutions.
Meanwhile, PPP leaders Taj Haider, Nawab Yusuf Talpur, Munawwar Hussain Suhrwardi and Jamil Soomro have said in a statement that Gen Pervez Musharraf would fail to get any benefit even from the state-sponsored “B” team as his “A”team had failed to deliver.
“Like in the recent referendum the people will give their mandate in favour of national politicians in the general elections, instead of opportunists and political orphans.”
They said that under the state sponsorship of alliances against national political parties had exposed the designs of Gen Perez Musharraf. They advised him Gen to stop undemocratic experiments and let the people decide the political future of the country.
Sindh PPP President Nisar Ahmad Khuhro said that Gen Musharraf had accepted his political defeat in the referendum by forming new alliances at the federal and provincial levels.
Mr Khuhro pointed out that the establishment had been experimenting since 1977 to compete with the PPP but every time it had faced miserable defeats. He asked people of Sindh to maintain unity in their rank and file and wait for the call of Benazir Bhutto for the future line of action.
