ISLAMABAD, Aug 20: The city police have arrested a man on the charge of impersonating a member of the National Assembly, police said on Wednesday.

The accused was produced in the court of law and later sent to Adiala Jail on judicial remand. The police said the fake MNA was intercepted by a security guard of National Assembly when he tried to enter the building from Gate-1. On inquiry he introduced himself as an MNA from Khushab.

However, he failed to produce member’s card on the demand of the guard with an excuse that he was yet to get it. He produced a form of getting the member’s card which proved to be fake during verification.

The stamp and signature inked on the form were fake, but the document was original, the police said.

The accused was taken into custody by the guards, who called the Secretariat police for further legal action. A case has been registered against him on charge of PPC 170: personating a public servant.

The police are investigating the matter to know from where he got the form and who inked the stamp and signature on it. Besides, in which connection he tried to enter the NA.They are also verifying from different departments concerned to clear doubts whether he had links with anti-social elements.

Earlier, Secretariat police had arrested a man who impersonated himself as Assistant Superintendent of Police Islamabad and tried to park his vehicle at the main gate of NA.The police said ZHS appeared at the Constitution Avenue and parked his car in front of the main gate. He was spotted by the traffic police officials who disallowed him and asked to park his vehicle somewhere else.

However, he introduced himself as an ASP stationed in Islamabad and tried to park his car there forcibly. The police officer sought his verification from control room, which proved false.

The official called the Secretariat police, who arrested him on arrival and took to the police station.

A case was also registered against him and later he was sent to Adiala Jail on judical remand. The police are also trying to verify him from authorities concerned and his links if any.
