FAISALABAD, May 6: An alleged bandit was killed late Sunday night during an encounter with villagers at Chak 612-GB in the limits of Tandlianwala police station.

Five bandits entered the shop of Muhammad Shahbaz, held the shopkeeper hostage at pistol point and started collecting cash and valuables. The bandits thrashed Shahbaz when he offered resistance and raised an alarm.

The bandits resorted to aerial firing and disappeared in the fields when some villagers gathered outside the shop. Villagers went after them, but the bandits opened fire on them which was returned. During a brief shootout, one of the outlaws was killed while others managed to escape in the dark.

The police rushed to the spot and took the body of the bandit into its custody. He was later identified as Tahir alias Tahira of a nearby village.

A case has been registered against the bandits.

THREATENED: Employees of the Allied Hospital have threatened to observe strike in protest against what they termed an indifferent attitude of the Medical Superintendent.

This was stated by a group of employees headed by Punjab Federation of Health Association chairman Shabbir Hussain Pasha while talking to newsmen here on Monday.

They said that MS Dr Javaid Akhtar misbehaved with para-medical staff and nurses without any justification which was a serious offence.

The MS was creating a panic among the hospital staff through his illegal orders, they said and added that he was absent from the duty for the last three days to avoid the wrath of employees.

The Punjab governor, chief secretary and Health secretary had been informed about his nasty activities, but no inquiry had so far been ordered, they said.

Due to his indifferent attitude, they said the official work of the hospital had been suffering badly which in turn causing problems for the patients and their relatives.
