KARACHI, Aug 8: A delegation of the Pakistan Leather Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (Plgmea) met Ms. Rubina Wasti, Collector of Customs (Export), to discuss problems faced by the exporters.
Fawad Ijaz apprised the collector of the hassles faced by exporters in tracing the status of their rebate claim since there was no customer facilitation counter at the collectorate and exporters were not allowed to enter customs groups’ offices to enquire about their rebate claims.
The collector (Exports) informed the Plgmea delegation that the collectorate was working on an internet-based rebate claim tracking system, which will take about one month to complete.
Ms. Wasti suggested that the association should submit a list of its leading members, who should be allowed access to customs groups for handling their rebate claim related objections till the new system is operational.
The price ceilings benchmark for leather garments export was fixed about eight years ago and since then cost of inputs has risen sharply. He requested that the price benchmark be revised in accordance with the prices list submitted the association.
The collector agreed that a new public notice in this regard will be issued soon.---APP
