ISLAMABAD, Aug 8: The Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) has issued a tender to import 250,000 metric tons of wheat in bulk, according to a document on its website seen on Friday.

The tender, issued late on Thursday, invited pre-qualified foreign suppliers to submit bids by August 16. Their bids will be opened the same day.

Meanwhile, a TCP official said on Friday the corporation has bought 100,000 tons of wheat at $379.71 a ton, cost and freight included from Exim Grain Trade, in a July 30 tender that was opened this week.

Negotiations were on with the other bidders, he said, as the corporation normally gives a chance to match the lowest price.

The official gave no further details, but a trade source said a total of 11 offers were made ranging between $379.71 and $403.00, for shipment to Karachi from any origin.

“Exim Grain Trade’s bid was the lowest, while W.J. Grain made the highest offer,” the trade source said separately, eight offers were submitted for shipment to Gwadar against the same tender.—Reuters
