JACOBABAD, Aug 7: The floodwater has washed away many houses and paddy crop standing on thousand of acres in Kashmore.
The floodwater coming from Shore and Zangli areas of Balochistan after torrential rains had passed through the Punjab at Shah Wali and entered Sindh at Kashmore.
More than 40 villages were inundated while thousands of acres of agriculture land had destroyed due to the flash flood.
Many villagers marooned as they had no resources to come out from the water. Many huts collapsed while victims were waiting for help.
Cattle, house material and grain which farmers used to store for one year as food supplies were submerged in floodwater. Many people saved their lives by reaching safer places. Reports said about 25,000 acres of agriculture land had destroyed.
Villagers complained that no elected representative or government official reached there. Villagers said waterborne diseases had spread in the area as no health official reached there yet.
They said floodwater coming from Punjab had entered Old line, Gulanpur, Khan Ghar and submerged Atal Mazari village, Mohammad Salah village, Nek Mohammad Khoso, Abdullah Mazari, Ali Jan Mazari, Nooruddin Mazari, Mohammad Saleh Larho Mazari, Jhagoo Mazari, Keenjhar Deh and many other villages.
RALLY: Pushcart owners took out a rally against what they called extortion by a contractor of the taluka municipal administration here on Thursday.
The rally started from Tower road and reached outside the press club where the protesters staged a sit-in and blocked the road for some time.
