KARACHI, May 6: The cotton production has increased by 1.02 per cent to more than 10.291 million bales till May 1, said a fortnightly report of Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) here on Monday.
Cotton arrival has depicted a rise of 8.07 per cent or 175,759 bales in Sindh but recorded a decline of 0.90 per cent or 71,776 bales in Punjab.
Punjab produced 7.937m bales till May 1, while Sindh produced more than 2.354 million bales.
Of the total, textile mills purchased more than 8.912 million bales from ginners, while the Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) procured 238,862 bales and private sector exporters bought 97,278 bales.
The total unsold stock at the ginneries has been estimated at more than 1.042m bales.—APP
