MIRPURKHAS, July 20: A 20-year-old jobless youth committed suicide outside his home in Kot Ghulam Mohammad on Sunday after having failed to procure flour for his family.
Reports reaching here said that Raoji Kolhi whose marriage was due in a couple of months, was a rickshaw driver, but he had been out of job for some time.
On Sunday, his family asked him to either bring flour or go and find some work. Frustrated, Raoji went out and hanged himself from a tree outside his house.
Raoji’s family comprises his 60-year-old blind father, mother, two unmarried sisters, one of them a polio victim.
His body was brought to the Kot Ghulam Mohammad taluka hospital where doctors delayed post-mortem for more than 10 hours, sparking protests by the relatives who forcibly took away the body. The angry relatives kept the body on the main roundabout of the town and blocked the road.
Led by Comrade Mana and Kirshan Lal they raised slogans against the medical superintendent of the hospital and demanded his suspension. They ended the protest after the DCO assured them that justice would be done.
Later, MNA Mir Munawwar Ali Talpur and DCO Abdrul Rahim went to Raoji’s house and expressed condolences with the family. The DCO also suspended doctors Azim Ghaus Kaimkhani, Jan Mohammad Babbar and Teerath Das for unnecessarily delaying the post-mortem.
