KARACHI, July 2: Naib City Nazim Nasreen Jalil has said that the youth are the nation’s asset and a better future of the country depends on their proper education and upbringing.

“We will have to move forward taking along the people speaking different languages and having different beliefs,” she said while speaking as chief guest at a session on “Inter-Cultural Leadership Day” on the second day of the six-day Young Leadership Conference here on Wednesday.

Ms Jalil said that the country could progress only when every citizen was taken along in the nation-building efforts.

“We will have to learn a lesson from our past in order to find solutions to the problems being faced by the masses and to ensure a better present and future for ourselves as a nation.”

She stressed on the continued struggle against feudalism to ensure restoration of due rights to the 98 per cent oppressed population of the country. “This will be possible only when our youth will realise that they are the force that can bring about a change,” she added.

She said the young leadership would have to come forward to cope with the issues like judicious distribution of resources, protection against ethnicity, provincial autonomy, NFC Award, etc.

“If we want Pakistan to exist, then ethnic and religious prejudices will have to be eliminated and it is the youth who can promote ethno-linguistic pluralism,” she said.

Ms Jalil urged the youth to work hard in their respective fields and demonstrate patience, tolerance and harmony.—APP
