KARACHI, June 12: Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain has reiterated his party’s support to the Pakistan People’s Party and assured PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari that the MQM will foil all conspiracies being hatched against the government at the centre and in the provinces.
In his telephonic address from London to a big gathering held here on Wednesday night in connection with the 30th foundation day of the All Pakistan Muttahida Students Organisation (APMSO), Mr Hussain did not identify the conspirators but warned that they were at work to dislodge the coalitions both at the centre and in the provinces.
Referring to the recent killing of some soldiers in the tribal areas, the Mr Hussain assured Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani that the MQM would support all positive measures to be taken by the government for the defence of the country and safety of its nationals.
The MQM leader paid tribute to Awami National Party chief Asfandyar Wali who played his due role in “bridging gap between the Pakhtun and Mohajir citizens in Karachi” as part of the reconciliation process.
He said that in order further this process, he had directed City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal to name the under-construction flyover at Banaras after Bacha Khan. “This is a gift to all Pakhtuns living in Karachi,” he remarked.
Mr Hussain congratulated all workers and supporters of the MQM and the APMSO on the latter’s anniversary.
