MANSEHRA, June 7: Robbers barged into a house here in the small hours of Saturday and decamped with cash and valuables, besides seriously wounding one person after inmates tried to overpower them.

The robbers barged into the house of Malang Khan in the jurisdiction of Shinkiary police station but the inmates awakened and attempted to overpower them as a result the thieves opened fire on the inmates critically injuring the head of the family, who was admitted to DHQ hospital, Mansehra.

The robbers later locked the inmates in a room and looted Rs150,000 in cash, gold ornaments, and other valuables and then fled away.

Shinkiary police after lodging an FIR raided various localities to apprehend the robbers, who were still at large.

Meanwhile, the city police claimed to have recovered 35 bottles of foreign made liquor and arrested two smugglers.

The police on a tip off erected barricades near the degree college and intercepted a vehicle but the driver instead of stopping it fled.

The police were able to stop the vehicle after giving it a chase and recovered huge quantity of liquor from it. The police also arrested two accused Shabeer and Tariq Mohammad.
