LAHORE, June 5: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has only made some suggestions and not expressed any reservations regarding the security arrangements in connection with the ICC Champions Trophy to be held in Pakistan from Sept 11.

This was stated by PCB Chairman Dr Nasim Ashraf while talking to Dawn on Thursday. The ICC sent a report to the PCB based on the recent visit of its security delegation to Pakistan.

“Yes, I have read the ICC report but there is not single reservations on the security issue, but some suggestions were made for making better arrangements,” he said.

“I have written a letter to the interior ministry to hold a meeting with the PCB to consider the suggestions with the coordination of the provincial governments,” he said.

Meanwhile, the chairman said he had no report that New Zealand had showed reluctance in coming to Pakistan in August ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy.

Top eight ICC affiliated nations have to take part in the Champions Trophy. Earlier, the PCB has to organise the Asia Cup from June 25 to July 6.

Though the security situation in Pakistan has improved remarkably after the general elections in the country on Feb 18, some foreign teams are showing reluctance in playing in Pakistan, due to fear of becoming targeted attacks as soldiers from these countries are serving in Afghanistan.
