Prisoner ‘tricks’ police escort

VEHARI, June 2: An under-trial prisoner escaped from the police custody on the premises of a local court on Monday.

Reports said that police brought Akmal of Gujranwala, who was involved in a dacoity case in Thingi police station area, to Vehari to produce him before court. Near court premises, the accused somehow managed to escape. Danywal police arrested the five police officials, including ASI Ilyas, Shehbaz and Yaqoub. — Correspondent
