QUETTA, May 28: Fierce clashes erupted on Wednesday between security forces and militants in Dera Bugti and rockets were fired in Kohlu district.

Officials said that militants attacked a checkpost with heavy weapons and rockets in the Sangsella area, about 20 kilometres from the Dera Bugti town and the ensuing exchange of fire continued for more than an hour.

The militants had earlier attacked the same area on Tuesday night. Neither side reported any casualty. In Karmo Wadh area in Kahan, militants fired several rockets on a Frontier Corps check post.

“The militants fired 10 rockets, but all of them exploded at places away from the post,” officials said. Two 32-KVA transmission lines were blown up in the Marwand area in Kohlu district, suspending power supply.

Meanwhile, a man claiming to be the spokesman for the outlawed Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), said his organisation had carried out the attacks on security forces in Karmo Wadh, Sehagri and Seha Aap areas in Kohlu.

Identifying himself as Beebarg Baloch, he claimed that at least six soldiers had been killed and several others injured in the attacks.
