KARACHI, April 30: People residing in Catholic Colony’s Oomen Resorts, housing 24 apartments, are without water for the last two weeks.
Residents of the affected apartments building complained that though the water crisis in their building had been persisting for the last fortnight, the KWSB officials have, so far, failed to even visit the locality to ascertain the cause of the lingering water issue.
“Isn’t it unjust that the KWSB’s hydrants, situated in their locality keep on getting uninterrupted supply, while our taps remain dry most of the time,” remarked an affected woman of the apartment.
Complaints of acute water shortage also continued to pour into the newspaper offices from Muslimabad, Old Golimar, Lyari’s Rexer Lane, Clifton’s Block 2, Kharadar, Pak Colony, Orangi’s Sector 11 1/2, Nazimabad No 3.
Residents of Clifton’s Block 2 and Orangi’s sector 11 1/2 complained that their localities were either supplied scanty supply of water or remained without water for days.
Residents of the affected localities complained that since water shortage had been persisting in their localities for the last couple of months, they have no choice but to either purchase private tankers at exorbitant rates or drink sub-soil unhygienic water at the cost of their health.
They demanded of the City Nazim and the KWSB managing- director to direct the concerned officials to ensure uninterrupted and adequate supply to their localities as they had been facing great hardships.
