NBP secure third place

KARACHI, May 14: Sattar Mansoori scored the fastest goal of the National Challenge Cup soccer to help National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) defeat Wapda 2-0 in the third place playoff at the Peoples Sports Complex on Wednesday.

The bankers got off to a stormy start as Sattar slotted home when the game was just 39 seconds old.

Wapda, who remained unimpressive throughout the tournament despite being the national champions, didn’t field their first choice players and depended mostly on their reserves.

The winners walked away with third position after Farooq Shah slammed home in the 21st minute for the second goal from almost 35 yards to seal the fate of the match. Finalists Navy and KRL will play for the title on Thursday at the same venue.
