KARACHI, May 12: Sindh Minister for Information Technology Mohammed Raza Haroon on Monday said that crime rate could be brought down considerably through effective and accessible liaison between people and police.
In this regard, he add, the IT department would employ all available resources to bring all the police stations in Sindh in conformity with modern day requirements.
He was chairing a meeting of e-policing steering committee.
The meeting decided to reserve three floors of the CCPO office for e-policing, and gave approval for the purchase of modern equipment and hardware.
The meeting was attended by IT Secretary Mohammed Zakir, IG Prisons Mohammed Yamin Khan, Additional IG Sindh Tariq Jamil, additional secretaries of home and finance departments, deputy secretary law department, DIG headquarters and project director of the e-policing.
In an earlier meeting, also attended IG Shoaib Suddle, issues like traffic management system, call centre for rescue service, video conferencing system, software development and automation of prison department were discussed.—APP
