SHIKARPUR, May 6: The government is taking interest to resolve the issues of women and to improve their socio-economic conditions, said Sindh Minister for Women Development Touqeer Fatima Bhutto.

The minister attending an open Kutchehry at the Circuit House listened to the problems of women and promised to resolve them without delay. She issued orders on some applications given by women and assured to approach the departments concerned in connection with their demands.

The demands included establishment of women’s section at district jail, evening classes of IT and other technical subjects at a local government college, upgradation of the Government Women Hospital and appointment of a gynaecologist, help in establishment of home-based industrial units, provision of jobs to educated ones and financial support to poor and deserving from the Baitul Mal and Zakat Funds.

TWO KILLED: A man and his son were killed and two others, including a woman received bullet injuries in firing by armed men at Fatoo Kot village in the jurisdiction of Sultankot police on Monday.

Eight armed men attacked the village with automatic weapons and opened fire killing Chakar Khan Brohi and his son Ali Hassan Brohi and injuring Abdul Qadir Brohi and his wife Zarina.

The injured were taken to the Civil Hospital from where Zarina was referred to a Larkana hospital due to her serious condition.

The motive behind the incident was said to be an old enmity. No FIR was registered till the filing of the report.
