MIRPURKHAS, May 4: Hundreds of shopkeepers of municipal shopping centre, Shahi Bazaar, Khisakpura and Sir Syed Road staged demonstrations here on Sunday in protest against power outages in the city.

The protesters blocked the M.A. Jinnah road which led to suspension of traffic. They also burnt old tyres on the main road.

They raised slogans against Hesco officials and demanded of the Hesco chief and chairman Wapda to suspend the officers responsible for prolonged power breakdowns.

They said that their business activities almost remained suspended due to intermittent power failure in day and night even in hot days for the last one month as a result of which they incurred losses.

They alleged that Hesco officials were involved in corruption and indulging in power theft.
