QUETTA, April 30: Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (JSQM) secretary-general Dr Safdar Sarki was released on Wednesday after the Balochistan government withdrew cases against him.

Dr Sarki had been shifted from Zhob prison to the jail ward of the civil hospital for medical treatment on April 12.

Talking to reporters after his release, Dr Sarki said he would like to continue his treatment in the hospital.

Dr Sarki disappeared on February 24, 2006, and was seen on October 11 last year when the Hub police station filed cases against him.

On Nov 2 last year, the Hub sessions court granted him bail, but he was shifted to Zhob jail on Nov 7.

On February 2 this year, the Zhob sessions court accepted his bail application but he was not be released because the advocate general of Balochistan had obtained a stay order from the Balochistan High Court.
