LANDI KOTAL, April 20: Elders of Kukikhel and Shinwari tribes have pledged to resist involvement of outsiders in their respective areas and resolve their internal disputes through mutual consultations.
Two separate jirgas of Kukikhel and Shinwari tribes were held at Jamrud and Landi Kotal on Sunday to review the situation after fierce clashes between Lashkar-i-Islam and Kukikhel tribe on Thursday last.
Addressing the jirga at Jamrud, Malik Attaullah Jan Kukikhel made it clear that no outsider would be allowed to carry out any action against unlawful or un-Islamic activities in Jamrud tehsil. He said that all tribal disputes would be resolved through mutual consultations and all unlawful activities would be discouraged within the jurisdiction of Jamrud tehsil.
The Kukikhel jirga announced formation of an 80-members council of local tribal elders which would tackle all issues relating to the said tribe. The jirga was attended by elders of Manya Khel, Sher Khan Khel, Katya Khel, Zora Khel, Shah Noor Khel, Mastal Khel and Udredooni sub-tribes of Kukikhel.
Another jirga of Shinwari tribe held in Landi Kotal strongly condemned the Lashkar-i-Islam for extending its activities to Jamrud tehsil and pledged to resist its involvement in their internal affairs.
