ISLAMABAD, March 30: An inquiry committee, formed to look into the ransacking of the residence of deposed Justice Khalilur Rehman Ramday in the Judges Colony, recorded statements of eight people on Sunday.

According to sources, the committee headed by Additional Deputy Commissioner General Rana Akbar Hayat recorded statements of three officials of the Supreme Court, an official of the Public Works Department and a Station House Officer of the secretariat police.

The committee started its investigation at around 1pm and continued its work till the filing of this report last night.

Meanwhile, the secretariat police has registered a report against some officials of the Supreme Court and Public Works Department on the complaint of Sardar Asmatullah who alleged that the officials had broken into the judge’s house and stolen files, documents and other articles.

He said the officials warned the servants of the deposed judge of dire consequences.

Asmatullah nominated additional registrar and deputy registrar of the Supreme Court and Public Works Department’s caretaker as accused in the complaint.

Talking to Dawn, he said he and more than three dozen lawyers visited the secretariat police station at about 11:57pm on Saturday and lodged the complaint. However, a case is yet to be registered in this regard.

SHO Mohammad Nawaz Bhatti said that registration of the case had been delayed only by the pending inquiry ordered by Prime Minister’s adviser on Interior Rehman Malik.
