MIRPURKHAS, March 29: The Awami Tehrik chief Rasool Bux Palijo warned on Saturday that the country would plunge into a grave crisis if the Pakistan People’s Party and Pakistan Muslim League-N leaders failed to fulfil their promise to restore deposed judges and make the judiciary independent.

He said while delivering a lecture on “current situation of the country” at the office of District Bar Association Mirpurkhas that the government should implement the 1940 Resolution in the best interest of the country.

Mr Palijo said that his party understood that the deposed judges including Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry were already restored.

He demanded formation of a judicial commission to probe the assassination of PPP chairperson Ms Benazir Bhutto and May 12 incident and the people found involved in the tragic incidents should be awarded exemplary punishment.

Mr Palijo praised the PPP and PML-N leadership for attempting to limit American influence in the country and wished them success. He said later talking to newsmen that people should be prepared to face more shocks because there might be more untoward incidents in the country in the current situation.

He supported the accord between PPP and PML-N and stressed the two parties should continue to work together in the best interest of the country.

Mr Palijo accused Gen (Retd) Pervez Musharraf, his team and America of being involved in the murder of Benazir Bhutto and advised the new government not to take in anyone who had been attached with Ziaul Haq.

He stressed that efforts should be made to form an alliance and change the name of the third world. OIC was a dummy body and it should be made more powerful, he suggested.

He saw the passage of 1973 constitution as illegal, arguing that the parliament, which passed it lacked full mandate for preparing the constitution after Bengal separated from the country.

DBA Mirpurkhas president Salahuddin Panhwar said that 45 lawyers would leave here in a bus for Quetta on Saturday night to welcome Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry at Quetta airport on March 31.
