BUNER, March 28: District Police Officer (DPO), Abdul Ghafoor Khan Afridi, narrowly escaped while two boys sustained injuries in a roadside explosion here on Friday.

The police said as soon as the DPO arrived to inspect the site of Abubakar Sadeeq Mosque near the Pacha bus stand in Pir Baba bazaar, a remote-controlled bomb exploded with a big bang. The DPO and his guard remained unhurt but the vehicle in which they were traveling was partially damaged.

The shrapnel of the bomb hit a nearby non-custom paid (NCP) car, causing severe injuries to two youngsters, Said Nawab and his nephew Kamran, hailing from Jowkhela, a town near Pir Baba.

The injured were rushed to the civil hospital, Pacha, from where one of the injured boys, Kamran, was shifted to Peshawar in a critical condition.
