Female vet attempts suicide

MIRPURKHAS, March 20: A lady veterinary doctor reportedly tried to commit suicide by shooting herself in her home at Gulshan-e-Umair, in the jurisdiction of Town police station here on Wednesday.

Thirty-five year old Fozia Memon, veterinary doctor in Government Animal Husbandry Hospital Mirwah Gorchani reportedly shot herself with father’s pistol after offering Isha prayers.

She was brought to the Civil Hospital Mirpurkhas where doctors referred her to Liaquat Medical University Hospital Hyderabad owing to her condition.

According to relatives, Dr Fozia was admitted to Female Surgical Ward of the LMUH Hyderabad and had not regained consciousness.

SHO Town police Muhammad Ayoub Dars said it was a suicide attempt because she was suffering from depression and living with her mother. He said she was divorced some six months ago.

He said legal formality of the incident will proceed on complaint by her mother or some close relative.

ARREST: The police arrested reportedly two members of inter-provincial narcotic gang and recovered drug in a raid at Nangar Khan Khaskheli village in jurisdiction of Taluka police station on Thursday.
