KARACHI, March 20: The State Bank of Pakistan announced on Thursday that 20-rupee note with new colours would be issued from Saturday.

“The launching of the new orange-green-yellow Rs20 note is part of an SBP effort to improve security, durability and aesthetic quality of banknotes as well as to address public grievances,” said a release issued by the SBP.

In the new Rs20 banknote, the portrait of the Quaid-i-Azam at the obverse of the note is printed in dark orange colour while the geometrical design close to the portrait and right and left side as well as some portion of lettering in Urdu are printed in green colour. The other portion is in yellow-orange colour.

At the back of the note, the vignette of Mohenjo-Daro and other ornamental designs depict the orange colour except at the close upper side of the vignette which is in green.The security features of the banknote are similar to that of Rs20 brown colour banknote presently in circulation.

The new colour banknote would facilitate the people to identify and distinguish the colour combinations of new designed banknotes of Rs10, Rs100, Rs500 and Rs1,000 introduced earlier.

The existing brown colour, Rs20 banknote would continue to remain a legal tender.
