SYDNEY, March 18: Cricket Australia (CA) chairman Creagh O’Connor has invited Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Dr Nasim Ashraf to discuss rescheduling the April tour which was postponed last week.

CA pulled out of the planned tour of Pakistan due to security concerns.

“Dr Nasim and I have taken the opportunity to catch up during the current International Cricket Council (ICC) board meeting in Dubai and we have had a preliminary look at dates which might be suitable to reschedule the matches,” O’Connor said in a CA statement from Dubai.

“I have assured the PCB that Australia is committed to finding new dates, and we are committed to the ICC principle that cricket will only develop as a genuine global sport if all nations play each other away and at home on a regular basis.”

O’Connor added that he needed to discuss technical issues with Dr Nasim in order to find new dates for the tour.

“I have suggested we meet in Melbourne as soon as possible and we will organise dates once the current ICC meetings are finalised,” O’Connor stated.

“Dr Nasim is also hoping to meet with security advisers so as to gain a better understanding of CA’s security concerns.”
