LAHORE, March 18: Six-year-old bay mare Rang Dey Basanti, who earned victory by a narrow margin on her last outing, will be on the trot to make it a two-in-a-row when she appears in the midweek Lahore Gymkhana races at the Racecourse on Wednesday.

The mare from One Against All out of Love Devine, Rang Dey Basanti had won by a head from the mare Tosca in a closely contested race gone over the sprinting distance of 900 metres.

Pick Of The Day, who has already won two back to back races and Creek Cat, a very unlucky filly, are her closest rivals in the fifth race in the racing order, the Shah Kot Plate class VI division III race to be contested over the distance of 900 metres.

Five-year-old dark bay horse Honest Minister, who ran fourth on Sunday is the pick of 15 runners drawn for the sixth race, the feature event, the over 900 metres Shah Kot Plate class VI division I. His stable mate Love Minister and Stride To Moment are next best in the same order. But the distance looks shorter for Stride To Moment.

God’s Gift, Victory King and Great Rhythm look good to pick up the spoils in the fourth race also run in the over 900 metres distance. But Victory King has a slight edge over the others on handicap.

Al Ain, Sun Shine and Tosca are the pick of the 10 runners listed in the third race. They should fight it out.

The second race has the biggest field of 15 acceptors, barring last-minute withdrawals. Four of them look on chance, namely, Miss Mano, Red Baron, Little Love and Rajwali. Whoever defeats Little Love should emerge victorious.

Dark bay filly Silent Assassin, who finished third behind Rokrra and Bagh-o-Bahar, should make amends this time by winning the first race.

Owned by Munir Dar, the filly showed good promise in her first try out and should be doing even better this time. Pretty and Sohna Noor should be her challengers.

Shahbaz Love, Kiss Of Love and Lal Pari stand out on form in the seventh and last race of the day. They should fight for positions in the same order too.

A record number of 86 runners, mostly unknown pedigrees, have been accepted for seven events on the card to be gone through during the midweek Gymkhana races. All events will be contested over the sprinting distance of 900 metres with the first race starting at 1.00pm.
