Wapda retain gymnastics trophy

KARACHI March 16: Wapda amassed 224.75 points to retain trophy in the 15th All-Pakistan Quaid-i-Azam gymnastics championship which concluded at the Sindh Sports Board complex on Sunday.

They were followed by Punjab who credited them with 184.65 points while Police secured third position with a tally of 178.60 points.

Balochistan and hosts Sindh were the other two outfits in the competition.

Mohammad Afzal of Wapda was declared the ‘Best Gymnast’.

Holders Wapda swept all the six gold medals at stake with Mohammad Afzal and Khurram Shahzad sharing four amongst themselves. Nasir Anwar and Mohammad Shahbaz won one gold medal apiece.

Vault: 1. Mohammad Afzal (Wapda) 14.80pts; 2. Shakeel Haider (Punjab) 13.90pts; 3. Imdad Hussain (Police) 13.65pts.
