LAHORE, March 12: Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Director-General (DG) Tariq Pervaiz has denied that any suspected terrorist was being interrogated at the time when a suicide attack hit its provincial headquarters on Temple Road here on Tuesday.

The FIA DG told Dawn on Wednesday that the prime function of FIA’s Special Investigation Group (SIG) was to collect evidence from crime scene and examine the quality of explosives used in any blast.

“The SIG has nothing to do either with the arrest or investigation of suspects involved in the Pakistan Navy War College,” the DG said adding, “the Lahore police are investigating the case.”

He said only human smugglers and deported and offloaded persons were present in a cell on sixth flour of the building at the time of the blast. — Staff Reporter
