PESHAWAR, March 12: The Pakistan Muslim League-N is likely to join the coalition government in the province with the Awami National Party and the Pakistan People’s Party.

PML-N general secretary Iqbal Zafar Jhagra said a preliminary meeting between his party and the ANP held on Tuesday had discussed a power-sharing formula at the provincial level.

“However, nothing concrete has come out of the meeting. In a day or two, another meeting will be held between members of the committees nominated by the two parties to work out modalities for the coalition government,” he said.

He said that after the party’s decision to become part of the coalition government at the centre with the PPP and the ANP, there was no harm in joining the provincial coalition government.

He said the party’s central leadership had issued guidelines to the provincial leadership for finalising the agreement with the ANP.

However, he said, the ANP would need to consult its coalition partner, PPP, on the question of PML-N’s joining of the provincial government. It would take some time to arrive at a conclusion because the ANP had already nominated its provincial ministers. Both the coalition partners, he said, had to surrender some ministries to the likely nominees of the PML-N. He, however, said his party had not made any demand regarding the number of ministers in the provincial cabinet. A decision in this regard would be taken after provincial level meetings, he said.
