KARACHI, Feb 26: The Board of Intermediate Education, Karachi, (BIEK) has organised a three-day science exhibition set to begin on Feb 29.

This was announced by the BIEK chairman, Anwar Ahmed Zai, on Tuesday.

He said that teams of students of colleges and higher secondary schools affiliated with all the six boards, Karachi, Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Larkana, Sukkur and the technical board, of the province would participate in the event.

The projects to be displayed would pertain to the disciplines of biology, physics, chemistry and mathematics, he said.

Mr Zai said that so far students from around 108 colleges of Karachi had been registered to take part in the exhibition.

There would be five teams each from the remaining five boards in the province, he said.

The chairman of the BIEK said that more than 150 stalls would be set up at the three-day exhibition to be held here in Gulshan-i-Iqbal.

According to the official, various other research institutes and departments such as Suparco, Pakistan Meteorological Department, environment department, Scouts and the Girls Guide will also set up their stalls at the exhibition.

The Sindh Home Minister, retired Brigadier Akhtar Zamin, will inaugurate the exhibition, while City Nazim Mustafa Kamal will preside over the ceremony. Entry to the three-day science exhibition will be free on March 1 and 2.

KU suppl exams

The University of Karachi on Tuesday notified the outgoing and ex-students of honours stream that the supplementary examination would start from March 15.

Students can deposit examination forms and fees by March 12 without a late fee from March 7 to 10 and with a late fee of Rs500 (Rs200 per course) on March 11 and 12.

The outgoing and ex-students having valid enrolments can take the examination in a maximum of five papers. However, regular students cannot appear in the supplementary examinations. The students of those departments whose honours 3rd year/masters final year results have not yet been announced may also submit supplementary examination forms on the basis of award submitted by their departments to the semester examination section.

MA marks sheets

The University of Karachi announced that the marks sheets of the candidates of MA (Final) external annual examination 2006 had been dispatched to their postal addresses.

The students who have not received their marks sheets can contact the external unit, at Silver Jubilee Gate, Room No 1 along with a photocopy of their admit cards from Feb 27 to 29 during the office hours.— APP/PPI
