KARACHI, Feb 22: Three workers of the Pakistan People’s Party were gunned down in a late night attack in Baldia Town.

CCPO Niaz Ahmed Siddiqui told Dawn that unknown attackers opened fire on a real estate agency, killing the three men.

A spokesman for the Bilawal House said the victims were PPP workers and one of them, Fazal Dad, was a polling agent in the vicinity on election day.

The other two victims were Sher Khan and Feroz Khan. They were from the NWFP.

PPP co-chairman Asif Zardari asked workers not to be provoked and remain peaceful. He condemned the killing of the PPP workers.

Area people said four gunmen on two motorbikes came at the estate agency and sprayed the three victims with bullets and rode off after the swift operation.

Shopkeepers pulled down their shutters and vehicular traffic disappeared from the streets as panic and tension gripped the entire locality, which echoed with intense gunfire.

Sources from the area said angry party workers and supporters thronged the spot and prevented police from shifting the bodies to hospital for a few hours.
