SIALKOT, Feb 7: The Chairman, Export Processing Zone Authority (EPZA), Kamran Y Mirza, has urged the business community of Sialkot to set up industrial units in Sialkot Export Processing Zone (SEPZ).
Speaking to members of the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry here on Thursday, he said that setting up of industrial units in the SEPZ would help increase volume of exports and also create jobs.
He said efforts were being made to resolve the problems being faced by the business community.
The government, he said, had already announced incentives for investors for establishment of industrial units in the SEPZ.
The incentives include 100 per cent ownership rights and repatriation of capital and profit, freedom from national import restrictions, relief from double taxation subject to bilateral agreement.
The EPZ manufacturers would be treated at par with bonded manufacturers in tariff areas for any future incentives, to be announced for exporters, he added.
SCCI President Dr Khurram Anwar Khawaja said that the Sialkot Export Processing Zone would also benefit some adjoining small industrial areas, like Daska, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Gujrat and Gujranwala.
He urged the government to remove irritants in setting up of industries in the SEPZ.—APP
